Optimization Of Qur'an Memorization Techniques Through Multiple Intelligences Approach: A Case Study At Ar Rahman Private High School Medan
Abstract
This paper aims to optimize Qur'an memorization techniques through the Multiple Intelligences approach at Ar Rahman Private High School in Medan. Multiple Intelligences, proposed by Howard Gardner, includes various human intelligences such as linguistic, musical, spatial, kinesthetic, logical-mathematical, intrapersonal, interpersonal, and naturalist intelligences. This approach is expected to be able to accommodate differences in student learning styles, thus increasing the effectiveness of the Qur'an memorization process. This research used a case study method with a qualitative approach, involving 30 students who memorized the Qur'an who were purposively selected. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results showed that the application of the Multiple Intelligences method was able to increase students' motivation and ability to memorize the Qur'an. Students who have linguistic and musical intelligences show faster progress in memorization through the audio-visual method, while students with kinesthetic intelligence respond better to movement-based memorization activities. In addition, students with interpersonal intelligence are more effective when memorizing in groups. Applying strategies that suit each student's dominant intelligence type not only helps them in understanding and memorizing the Qur'an, but also increases their confidence and learning satisfaction. Thus, the Multiple Intelligences approach is proven to be effective in optimizing the process of memorizing the Qur'an at SMA Swasta Ar Rahman Medan. The results of this study recommend wider implementation of this approach in other Islamic educational institutions to improve the quality of tahfidz education.
