AS-SALAM MOSQUE MANAGEMENT AS A CENTER FOR STUDENT CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT DHARMAWANGSA UNIVERSITY

Abstract

Purpose of this study to determine the role of the As-Salam Mosque in developing the character of Dharmawangsa University students. Character development in the campus mosque environment is supported by strengthening moral, religious and cultural messages that are obtained is the right choice. Method research using descriptive qualitative research data sources are Takmir Masjid, students as prayer congregation. Methods of data collection in the form of interviews, observations, interview guidelines and documentation studies. Data analysis in the form of data reduction, data display, and data verification. Result sresearch shows that the mosque plays an important role in building the character of Dharmawangsa University students not only educating students through the teaching and learning process but also through the Congregational Prayer Program at the Mosque, praying together and eating together as well as providing compensation to Islamic boarding school students, with the As-Salam Mosque program in the form of 1. Sale of Charity Rice, 2. Blessing Friday Package, 3. Breaking the Fast Together, 4. Idhul Adha Qurban Movement. The implementation of this program is to shape the character of students based on the Vision and Mission of Dharmawangsa University with Nawajiwa to become academic characteristics in the form of, 1) Religious, 2) Integrity, 3) Independent, 4) Cooperation, 5) Discipline, 6) Creative, 7) Caring social, 8) love of science, 9) national spirit. Suggestion Character building programs are important and must continue to be developed so that students can not only master science and technology but also gain spiritual intelligence so that they are able to distinguish between evil and evil, as well as giving behavior that requires both knowledge and material.
